An original oil painting inspired by my first spring in Perth, Western Australia.
I arrived in Perth from New Zealand during the season when the acacia trees were in bloom. Coming from Yakutia, a land of permafrost and long winters, seeing these brilliant golden flowers everywhere felt almost magical.
Acacia also carries memories of my childhood, when these flowers (we called them Mimosa) were traditionally given to women in March to celebrate International Women’s Day.
This painting became a meeting point between those memories and a completely new chapter of my life - a celebration of new beginnings, joy, light and the energy of the sun.
It was also the first oil painting I created after moving to Perth, making it a particularly personal piece in my collection.
